Writing Guidelines
This is a people powered campaign. Sharing our stories is a powerful tool to inspire change. Story contributions welcomed at info@flightfree.org (up to 300 words) or click here to go to a short questionnaire.
Contribute a story/ quote (up to 300 words) about going #FlightFree. The more personal the better! What led to your decision to pledge to be flight free in 2021? Share your thoughts about what it might be like this year or recommend flight travel alternatives.
We would like to publish your story/ quote and photo on any the Flight Free USA or Flight Free World websites and social media channels, now and in the future. We may also need to shorten your text for some purposes, such as sharing on Twitter.
We respect you privacy and will list your name only as requested.
We look forward to reading your story!
Tips for taking a photo or for choosing a photo you have already
We would also like a photo of you, either on your own or together with friends or family members who will pledge to be Flight Free in 2021. You can either take a photo when holding the pledge card, or we can add the Flight Free banner to your photo afterwards.
People will notice the background so try and use a simple background without much detail, such as greenery or a wall. Or you can have a photo of you in an environment that says something about you- at work, at a local landmark, on a trip.
Avoid having anything reflective like mirrors in the background
Make sure the lens of your camera is clean!
It’s best to avoid direct sunshine as it either causes squinting/high exposure or darkens the face. Cloudy or shady environments are better.
We might crop the pictures to suit our channels but we prefer close up photos, torso up.
